Here at Big Sister Swap, we are constantly being shown the latest trends, because we see exactly what our Swappers want to get their hands on. Here’s a list of our most requested items, and pieces that will surely continue to be popular in 2020…
MIDI SKIRTS: This is by far our most requested item, and we can see why. Midi skirts are such a wearable piece, that can be dressed up with heels and a pretty top, or dressed down with trainers and a chunky knit. Our most requested type of midi skirt, is a silky slip one, ideally in a leopard print.
CHUNKY KNITS: This has been requested by almost all of our Swappers since the weather got a bit colder in September. This Autumn/Winter, the chunky knit has been worn with midi skirts, under blazers, tucked into mom jeans or just on top of leggings and sitting on the sofa in front of Love Actually.
VINTAGE SPORTS WEAR: The staple of any UK uni student. Vintage sports fleeces or jumpers are the most highly requested type of sportswear, but even t-shirts with a faded Adidas or Patagonia label are highly sort after. These pieces are so easy to wear, as you can chuck them over jeans and trainers, and instantly look like a mood.
LONG BROWN COATS: Brown is the new black when it comes to outwear this year. Look down any tube carriage right now, and you’ll see at least 10 camel coats or trench coats. It’s easy to see why, they make every outfit look just that bit more chic and put together. Pair the brown coat with animal print and a chunky heel for one of this year’s most common looks.
BLAZERS: This item makes you work for it. It can be tough to find a blazer that fits perfectly, and can be worn with all the outfits you want to wear it with. However, when you find your dream blazer, it quickly becomes your staple piece. Wear it with a sporty sweatshirt and jeans for an everyday look, or with a floaty midi dress to clash soft and hard silhouettes.
DUNGAREES & PINAFORE DRESSES: With the popularity of Lucy & Yak souring over the past year, it’s no surprise that everyone wants a piece of their wide-leg, funky colour comfort. Pair these with a simple tee underneath, or a clashing colour if you’re feeling daring, and you can’t go wrong. If dungarees are feeling a bit heavy, pinafore dresses are the perfect summer alternative.
DITSY PRINT SUMMER DRESSES: Maybe not the ideal piece for this time of year, but this was our most requested item over the summer months. With influencers like Best Dressed pairing this with cute vintage handbags and chunky trainers, it fast became the item to have this year, and we predict it’ll be popular again over Spring/Summer 2020.
